At the age of seven years old, Nick along with his family, moved to Colombia to live on mission. Nick alongside his two younger brothers, younger sister and parents spent much of his youth actively involved in building Gods church in various areas of South America. Nick attended Judson University in Elgin, Illinois where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Cross Cultural Communications. While attending college Nick earned a living by waiting tables where he fell in love with the restaurant industry. He started his restaurant management career at Famous Dave’s where he worked for 2 years during college. After college he was the Assistant General Manager at Bob Evans until he was recruited by the Cheesecake Factory. Nick served 9 years ending as a senior II manager at the Cheesecake Factory on Chicago's Michigan Ave. Nick left Cheesecake Factory in 2015 to follow his dream of opening a chain of non-profit restaurants to help youth outreach in urban communities. He is a chief visionary behind Restaurants on Mission and serves as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Carisa Frost graduated from Southern Illinois University in 2003 receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications with minors in advertising and marketing. She has spent her career working in service and tourism based environments specifically in the retail industry. Her passion for success has taken her to a variety of key retail markets in the US including: Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. In 2013 Carisa was awarded her Masters in Business and Administration (MBA) Degree from Southern Illinois University and in 2014 became an Adjunct Professor of Marketing and Fashion Merchandising Management for Southern New Hampshire University. In 2015 she left the retail industry to partner with her husband, Nick Manderfield, in starting Restaurants on Mission where she serves on the Board of Directors and as Chief Operations Officer.
James F. Kistner, CPA- graduated Cum Laude in 1976 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. Upon graduation he went to work for Coopers& Lybrand, CPA’s, one of the world's top ten CPA. Jim passed the CPA exam and received CPA certificate in 1980. In 1980 left Coopers & Lybrand, CPA’s as Audit Supervisor to become the Corporate Assistant Controller of Spartan Manufacturing Company. Between 1980 and 1991 he has held several Controller positions in the envelope and direct mail industry. In 1991, became the Executive Director of an outpatient surgery center. In 1994, he became the Controller/Chief Financial Officer of a home remodeling company. From 1998 to present, Jim has held the position of Director of Accounting for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Dr. Donna Payne has been a professional educator for more than 40 years, including twenty-five years’ experience in higher education. Her experiences include establishing, administering and growing six online colleges, administering departmental, university-wide and multi-campus programs, evaluating faculty, providing academic leadership, obtaining outside funding, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising students, designing and administering programs for national, local and state education agencies. She holds a Bachelors of Education Degree in Home Economics from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Masters of Education Degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling from Northeastern Oklahoma State University and Doctorate of Philosophy in Vocational Education from Colorado State University. Dr. Payne was a finalist for the Oklahoma Woman of the Year, the Outstanding Career and Technical Educator for a seven state region, and named to the Outstanding Women Young Women of America.
Dr. Bartels a seasoned higher education administrator, with more than 20 years’ experience, has a diverse and creative background in higher education and online learning. She has served as a consultant in accreditation studies, institutional effectiveness, compliance, assessment, marketing and healthcare. Dr. Bartels has served in numerous higher education executive leadership roles including Vice President of Academic Affairs, Provost, Chief Academic Officer and Dean. She also served as a professor and senior lecturer at Gakushuin University, Tokyo (the Harvard University of Japan), where she was the first foreign female professor to be invited to join the university’s full-time faculty. Dr. Bartels also has extensive experience in public relations, working for Verizon and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia. In addition, she has provided strategic planning, fundraising and organizational development campaigns for a variety of organizations. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in theatre and her Doctorate of Philosophy degree in communications from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and also studied at Sophia International University, Tokyo. A proponent of life-long learning, she continues her interest in cross-cultural communications through travel to European countries, Japan, and most recently China.
Jorge studied Financial Administration and Management at Universidad Cooperative de Colombia. While studying, he started as a “mensajero” or errand boy at a restaurant. Jorge quickly realized how much he enjoyed the pace and excitement of the restaurant industry. Jorge excelled in this environment and was promoted to better positions. In 1976 he became the administrator of Restaurante Acuarios. In 1981 he became the administrator of Restaurante Kevins. In 1989 he became the administrator of Estadero Restaurante Singapu. In 2001 he became Operational Director of Thaico Café where he stayed for 12 years. In 2008, the Thaico company wanted to expand to another brand. He took the position as Operational Director of So Happy. Over a course of 7 years, he developed the brand from one restaurant to four restaurants. Presently, Jorge is a key member of Restaurants on Mission Fundación Colombia.
